Research Solution Architect Algorand Labs

Dr. Stefano De Angelis is a Research Solution Architect at Algorand Labs. Stefano’s main responsibilities are the research and development of cutting-edge solutions in the web3 space. He is also a Research Fellow at the University of Southampton in the Department of Electronics and Computer Science, and a former Security Officer at NATO Headquarters in Bruxelles. His research focuses on distributed systems and cyber security, including dependable and efficient blockchain systems, consensus protocols, and fault tolerance in large-scale decentralized networks. He authored several papers in the field of blockchain published on international conferences, workshops, and books.

Stefano holds a PhD in Computer Science and Cyber Security awarded in 2022 from the University of Southampton, with a thesis about methodologies and benchmarking procedures for assessing blockchain-based systems in realistic adversarial environments, and a MSc in Engineering of Computer Science awarded in 2018 from the University “Sapienza” of Rome.
